Where to Meet Arriving Passengers at Sydney Airport

Find the Sydney Airport meeting point for T1 and T2 arrivals, where to meet at T3, and how to choose between terminal meet-ups and car pick-up zones.
Where to Meet Arriving Passengers at Sydney Airport
The best place to meet an arriving passenger depends on their terminal and whether you plan to greet them inside or collect them by car. Sydney Airport has designated meeting points at T1 and T2; for T3, arrange a specific location in the public arrivals area.

Sydney Airport meeting points by terminal

Choose the meeting location based on the passenger’s arrival terminal. The indoor meeting points are different from the areas where vehicles collect passengers.

Terminal

Where to meet

What to know

T1 International

Arrivals level, between exits A and B

Official designated meeting point

T2 Domestic

Arrivals level, opposite baggage carousel 6

Official designated meeting point

T3 Domestic

A clearly agreed spot in the public arrivals concourse

No separate designated meeting point listed on the airport’s facilities pages

Check the terminal shown on the passenger’s itinerary or flight information, especially if you are unfamiliar with the airline or flight number.

Meet international passengers at T1

For an international arrival, wait in the public arrivals hall at Terminal 1. Sydney Airport’s designated meeting point is on the Arrivals level between exits A and B, so it gives both people a clear, shared landmark.

Arriving travelers need to complete the applicable passport, baggage collection and border clearance steps before they can enter the public arrivals area. The person waiting cannot pass through international security or border control to meet them at the gate.

A practical arrangement is to agree on “the meeting point between exits A and B” before the flight. The arriving passenger can head toward that location once they have entered the public hall, while the person meeting them waits in one place rather than moving between exits.

Meet domestic passengers at T2 or T3

Terminal 2: Opposite baggage carousel 6

At T2 Domestic, head to the Arrivals level and look for the dedicated meeting point opposite baggage carousel 6. This is the most precise landmark to share when you are meeting someone on foot, including a passenger who has checked luggage.

Avoid choosing only “outside T2” as your meeting instruction. The terminal has several exits and transport routes, so giving the carousel number is clearer.

Terminal 3: Agree on an arrivals-area landmark

For T3 Domestic, Sydney Airport does not list a separate designated meeting point alongside the ones at T1 and T2. Arrange to meet in the public arrivals concourse after the passenger leaves the gate area or collects any checked baggage. Choose a specific, easy-to-describe landmark or exit, and confirm it by message once the traveler reaches Arrivals.

Do not assume the T2 meeting point applies to T3. Although both terminals handle domestic flights, they have separate arrivals areas.

Meet inside the terminal or use a vehicle pick-up zone?

A meeting point is a place for people to find each other. A pick-up zone is designed for collecting passengers by vehicle. The right option depends on whether you want to leave the car and enter the terminal.

If you want to walk inside and greet the passenger

Use short-term parking first, then walk to the agreed indoor meeting spot. Sydney Airport lists P7 for access to T1 International and P2 or P3 for the domestic terminals. This avoids trying to leave a vehicle unattended at the curb.

If the passenger can walk directly to your car

Arrange a vehicle collection point instead of the indoor meeting area. For T1, follow the signs for the Public Pick-up zone. For T2 and T3, follow the signs for the Domestic Express Pick-up zone. Both offer up to 15 minutes of free use for one entry per calendar day; fees apply for longer stays. Ask the passenger to contact you when they are ready at the signed pick-up area, rather than when their flight first lands.

Rideshare services use separately signed areas and may have different procedures and charges. To check routes, zones and current conditions, refer to the airport’s passenger pick-up guide.

Make a meeting plan that avoids confusion

  1. Confirm the exact arrival terminal: T1, T2 or T3. Do not rely on “Sydney Airport” alone.
  2. Send one clear meeting instruction, such as “T1 Arrivals, between exits A and B,” or “T2 Arrivals, opposite carousel 6.” For T3, agree on a specific landmark in the public arrivals area.
  3. Plan around when the passenger reaches Arrivals, not just the scheduled landing time. International clearance and baggage collection can add time, while domestic passengers with no checked baggage may be ready sooner.
  4. Keep a phone contact method available and agree on what to do if you miss each other. Staying at the original meeting place while you exchange messages is often simpler than both people searching.

If you need to check the terminal layout before traveling, use the airport’s terminal maps.

When a passenger needs extra assistance

If the arriving traveler has reduced mobility, heavy luggage or needs help reaching a vehicle, decide whether the person meeting them should use a short-term car park and enter the terminal. Sydney Airport also provides accessible pick-up spaces, but a designated bay should not be treated as a place to leave a vehicle unattended. Drivers who need to step out briefly to assist a passenger should speak with the curbside officers and follow their instructions.

For airline-provided mobility assistance, contact the airline in advance so that the support needed within the terminal is arranged separately from the meeting location.
